Stigma Smash

Nov 1, 2019 | Health News

To kick off Thrive month on November 1st 2019, our VOICE team partnered with the UBCO Student Union, Jack Chapter, Mental Health Awareness and Advocacy Club, and a group of second year nursing students to smash mental health stigmas! Students wrote mental health stigmas or things that negatively affected their mental health on pumpkins. Then, they were taken up a scissor lift and watched their pumpkins drop and smash on the tarps below. Many of the pumpkins were semi-rotten and donated for the event. The UBCO Leftovers Club collected the salvageable pumpkins to be re-used. It was a great way to start Thrive month.
